Please don't follow what the CDC is telling you. We need to make sure our children, our babies are hitting those signposts. If it started back when they were babies, I guarantee you, it's going to be an issue when they become school age.

  • Intro to the show. 0:04
    • Dr Laura Hanson talks about her non-pharmaceutical approach to things like autism, adhd, anxiety and depression.
    • Today is a new day. No matter what's happening, we don't need to despair.
  • Dr. Laura's background. 2:28
    • Dr Laura is a Doctor of Chiropractic, with a master's in sports health science, concentration in nutrition and a pediatric diplomat degree.
    • Dr Paul has worked with a lot of the population.
    • She wanted to be an attorney, a supreme court justice, and a paralegal. She was in chiropractic school for four years and was the president of her class.
    • One of the first practices she had was with a little girl who screamed when she heard her voice.
    • Chiropractic is about the subluxation complex. Dr Larry Schultz created a piece of medical equipment called the triangle of development.
    • The 10 hour program two hours a day, five days in a row.
    • Seven years ago, her daughter was in a terrible car accident and suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. She had to relearn how to walk, talk and eat.
    • The importance of functional medicine.
  • What is the most effective treatment for autism? 11:51
    • One of the first things she found for the autistic community was low cholesterol. The body makes 80% of its own cholesterol and uses cholesterol to build the brain for neurotransmitters, hormones and stress chemistry.
    • There is a great company that makes a product inexpensively to build up the cholesterol in the body.
    • In many instances, language would start to come about in about two to three weeks, so that was always a game changer.
    • The next thing to look at is mthfr, because the cholesterol in kids is low, compared to adults who can be out of control.
    • Genes are not linear. They are based on expression, but there is a risk for bipolar schizophrenia and different types of mood disorders.
    • The moro reflex activates three things in the neurology, arousal, co2 and sympathetic nervous system, and can cause brain inflammation and not being able to methylate.
  • The brain map. 20:44
    • The mthfr is easy to test for and easy to manage, and it's easy to give them the nutrient they're missing. Inflammation is powerful in that instance.
    • What has been his observation over the years in the realm of adhd, anxiety, depression and ADHD.
    • For a child before eight years old, dominant brainwave should be alpha, but as they go towards puberty, low beta is becoming more dominant.
    • Neurofeedback is the therapy that follows brain mapping.
  • Why is timing so important? 26:02
    • Timing is how the brain works. The brain has specialty centers on the right side and the left side of the brain and they go through a variety of movements to communicate.
    • There is a great book called ADHD Nation that is recommended for those in their 20s and 30s.
    • There is no one certain age, but there is no certain age. There is something cool to do with a baby to mimic what pressure is a neurological track and provide pressure to the baby so that that neurological track can start to come on.
    • Your newborn even at three months should be big, beautiful eyes.
  • What to do if your child isn’t crawling? 32:09
    • If a baby is not crawling, put a metronome on their phone and follow the tempo and cross crawl pattern.
    • Use kinesio tape on the back of the spine.
    • Dr Laura Hansen's guide to developmental milestones is available on her website, connect my brain.com, and her website is connectmybrain.com.
    • How to handle school-aged kids who are struggling with ADHD.
  • How to get kids off medications? 36:23
    • Most parents want to get their child off of medications. The first thing is to make sure families understand that it is not their role.
    • Aerobics and visual stimulation are important.
    • The hippocampus has a high affinity for stress hormones, which block learning and memory.
    • There are two types of matter in the brain, gray matter and white matter.
    • Many kids are testing positive for sibo, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, meaning that bacteria is in the wrong place.
    • Recibo is a foundational lab for diagnosing sibo.
  • How to take the binding agent. 42:51
    • The two dosages of this each day, starting with 10 minutes before a meal and moving up to five drops of bifidobacteria.
    • The infant probiotic and short chain fatty acids.
    • Chronic illness and kids should not have all of this disruption going on, because they are close to the beginning of life.
    • Neurofeedback in her office since 2008.
  • Stress and the moro reflex. 47:05
    • The moro reflex is the anti-colada of all reflexes. It is the foundation of how the brain has to come online to pay attention.
    • It is supposed to integrate between three and four months postnatal, when it comes on during nine weeks of pregnancy.
    • The stress response is used to figure out what the child needs to work on most of the time.
    • The classic pattern with most of these kids with ADHD, anxiety and depression is that they have too much going on on the right temporal lobe.
    • The percentage of kids who come to see you with add ADHD, anxiety and depression, and how well they are engaged with the program at the end.
    • Results-driven.
  • How much of this can be done virtually? 55:03
    • Fixing the diet is critical, and fixing it is critical.
    • How much of this can be done virtually, and is there a way to sort of make this process available everywhere. The most important part is the assessment, and that is the best way to do that.
    • Dr laura believes that giving the brain all the pieces that it needs to heal is important, and that 5% of her practice is for adults.
    • Dr Laura is a gift to the world and hopes to make this technology and what she is doing more available.
